Geely Auto Group introduced its next-generation Geely Smart Charging technology in Ningbo, China, on 23 September 2026, bringing artificial intelligence into vehicle energy management with the aim of speeding up charging while cutting heat, improving safety and extending battery health.
The system is built around Xingrui PowerMind, a smart energy AI model jointly developed by Geely Auto Group and StepFun, which coordinates the vehicle, battery, charging station, cloud, grid and energy storage system. The technology launched alongside the Fifth-Generation Geely Smart Charging Station, which the company said delivers peak charging power up to 2,250 kW, and the Next-Gen Ultra Short Blade Battery.
Managing heat in advance
According to Geely, the AI charging technology predicts battery temperatures up to 30 seconds ahead and adjusts charging power dynamically, rather than responding only once temperatures have already risen. The company said the system keeps the battery’s average charging temperature below 55°C while limiting peak temperature to under 65°C, supported by what it described as the industry’s first five-point liquid cooling system managing heat across the charging station’s energy-storage battery, charging pile, cable, port and battery pack.
Faster charging and longer battery life
Geely said it has also developed lithium-ion pulse restoration technology, which uses micro-pulse currents to reactivate lithium ions that accumulate at negative electrodes during repeated fast charging. Combined with its AI charging management, the company said this increases battery cycle life by 20%.
The Shendun Golden Battery, developed for ultra-fast charging, supports a peak charging rate of 12C. In real-world tests, Geely said the battery used in the Lynk & Co 10 and Zeekr 001 charged from 10% to 70% in 4 minutes 30 seconds, and from 10% to 97% in 8 minutes 40 seconds, which it called its fastest production-ready charging performance to date.
The Next-Gen Ultra Short Blade Battery, aimed at longevity and safety, uses laser-welding technology for cell tabs and covers, cutting heat during charging by 10% while raising its peak charging rate to 6C, according to the company.
